This is an important time of the year for collegiate athletes. This weekend will be the end of conference play for the majority of DII and NAIA programs. Conference Tournaments will be played the following weekends with and at-large berth available. I thought to get in the spirit of post season, I would list the following tournaments on this website.

Region 2

Arguably one of the toughest regions in DI for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Traditional powerhouses in conference include NEO (Northeastern Oklahoma A&M), Seminole State, Connors State, and Northern Oklahoma –Enid, and Northern Oklahoma – Tonkawa. Clearly this season NEO at 18-2 in conference and 35-6 overall and Seminole State 19-3 and 39-8 overall are the best two teams in this conference. I really believe this is two team race for conference championship and tournament championship.

Tournament Championship is May 6-8 at Coweta Sports Complex in Coweta, Oklahoma.

Local players to watch include:

Shannon Hughes (NEO) from Blue Springs South and Originals-Moore batting .471 with 57 runs, 19 doubles, 7 homeruns, 44 rbis, and 17 stolen bases.
Shelby Prather (NEO) from Liberty North and Victory batting .360 with 49 hits, 42 runs, 9 doubles, 40 rbis, and 9 stolen bases.
Rylee Bayless (NEO) from Winnetonka and Skinners batting .594 with 76 hits, 71 runs, 17 doubles, 18 homeruns, 65 rbis, 36 stolen bases.
Rachael Murphy (NEO) from Smithville and Victory is 9-0 with 3.43 ERA, 65 innings, 75 hits, 36 K’s.

Region 6

This region has two of the top ten teams in the country with Butler 19-1 in region and 39-4 overall and Barton 19-3 in region and 44-4 overall. Only other team with a record over .500 is Colby 15-7 in region and 38-14 overall.

Tournament Championship is May 11-12 and is hosted by region champion.

Local players to watch include:

Megan Wurts – Butler from Olathe North and Mac-N-Seitz Storm batting .468 with 59 hits, 21 doubles, 5 homeruns, 45 rbis, and 36 stolen bases.

Regan Boyer – Pratt from Paolo and Kansas Explosion – Batting .273 with 24 hits, 4 doubles, 2 triples, 12 rbis, and 4 stolen bases.

Region 11

I have decided to include this region because of several KC players playing on team in this region. All teams are in Iowa. This appears to be a two team race with Indian Hills and Iowa Western. Both teams are 8-4 in region. Indian Hills is 32-14 overall. Iowa Western is 32-21. Muscatine could still come up and sneak in region with 6-4 region and 34-12 overall.

Region Championships is May 6-7 and is hosted by Region 16 Championship.

Local players to watch include:

Alayna Gabbert – Indian Hills from Marantha Christian and Olathe Rockets-Myers – batting .279 with 27 hits, 17 runs, 10 rbis, and 3 stolen bases
