For all travel coaches and parents of softball, there is a new softball program beginning this Fall. The Roadrunners of State Fair Community College Board of Trustees approved softball, baseball, and soccer for each gender. Lyndsey Talbot, current assistant softball coach at Central Methodist University, has been hired as the new head coach. Talbot, a former Jeff City High and Central Methodist softball player, has strong ties to central Missouri. Lyndsey Talbot contact information is and 573-301-2768. Currently, the Roadrunners have strong basketball programs. Men’s basketball finished 19-10 and Women’s basketball at 22-8.

paige parker named player of the year finalist

ASA/USA has announced the Top 25 finalists for the 2016 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year as of April 14th. Truman High and Originals Gold's Paige Parker of Oklahoma has made the list. On the season, Paige is 20-3 with a 1.85 ERA throwing 136 innings allowing 92 hits and 156 strikeouts. Opponents are batting only .136 and has thrown 8 shutouts. The sophomore is continuing her dominance on the pitcher mound from freshman year. She was 28-7 with 1.65 ERA throwing 217 innings and allowing only 129 hits and 224 K’s. All of Kansas City is rooting for the lefty. Congrats Paige!

park tops standings in american midwest

First year Head Coach Steve Tingler must be feeling upbeat with his team as they stand in 1st place with a 17-7 record. Congratulations to the Park softball team for their conference championship. Overall, the record is 25-13-1. Park finishes their season on April 21st at Olathe with DH against MNU. Park has a balanced team with hitting .312 batting average and .424 OBP, pitching with 2.94 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and Opponent BA of .263, and Stolen Bases with 50 in 39 games.

North Texas Transfer Mallory Land (JR) from Parkville and DeMarini Zephyrs Gold is leading the team with .347 batting average with 38 runs scored. 11 doubles, 35 rbi’s, and .434 OBP. Britanee Willard (JR) from Gardner-Edgerton and KC Peppers Gold is providing a good bat being 2nd on team .342, 39 runs scored, and impressive 36 stolen bases. Allie Reynolds (SR) from Labette County High and Hoorah is 15-4 with 2.36 ERA with 14 complete games, 3 shutouts, an opponent’s batting just .225. Scotlin Hurley (JR) from North Central CC Transfer and KC Pride is 6-6 with 2.88 ERA.

Conference Tournament begins on April 29th and has yet to be announced where tournament will be played but expect some home cooking for the Pirates. We wish the team best wishes.

butler cc continues to dominate

Butler continues to dominate with a 19-1 conference record and 39-4 overall. Butler is ranked #6 in the nation for DI for NJCAA. The Grizzlies have also won 24 straight games and is undefeated at home being 19-0. Butler has doubleheader @ Dodge City this Friday but the HUGE games is this weekend at home against Barton who is #10 team in the country and record of 44-4 and is 15-3 in conference. They did play on March 3rd and split the doubleheader.

The Grizzlies offensively are led by Morgan Bohanan (FR) from Goddard, Kansas and Tulsa Elite 95 batting .532 with 59 hits, 19 doubles, and 48 rbis in 38 games, Brynn Minor (FR) from Goddard, Kansas and Renegades Chaos batting .496, 65 hits, 11 doubles, 40 runs, 36 rbis, and 16 stolen bases, Megan Wurts (SO) Olathe North and Mac-N-Seitz Storm batting .468, 59 hits, 21 doubles, 4 triples, 45 rbis, and 36 stolen bases, and Becca Schulte (FR) from Andover Central and Kansas Renegades batting .455, 60 hits, 54 runs, 12 doubles, 12 homeruns, 57 rbis, and 22 stolen bases.

Pitching is led by Regan Mergele (FR) from San Antonio, Texas going 19-3 with 1.43 ERA, 112 innings, 99 hits, 105 K’s, and Jennifer Hittinger (SO) from Cibolo, Texas going 18-1 with 1.74 ERA, 100 innings, 83 hits, and 61 K’s.
