Default Avila fall showcase

The Halloween Futures Showcase and Tournament will take place Oct. 20-22.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - For the third straight year the Avila softball program will host a futures showcase and a fall high school tournament, head coach Samantha Honeycutt announced on Thursday.

The third annual Future Eagles Showcase and the Halloween Showcase Tournament will both take place on the weekend of October 20-22, with the Future Eagles Showcase beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20 and the Halloween Showcase Tournament running from Saturday, Oct. 21 through Sunday, Oct. 22. Both events will take place at the 3 & 2 Sports Complex at 9600 Blue River Road in Kansas City, Mo.

"We are excited to bring back the Future Eagles Showcase and the tournament for another year," Head Coach Samantha Honeycutt said. "We have had great success in finding talented student-athletes for our program through both of these great events, and we are excited to be able to host it at the 3 & 2 Sports Complex for a second consecutive year."

Future Eagles Showcase (Friday, Oct. 20th): The Future Eagles Showcase gives high school aged student-athletes a chance to showcase and develop their skill set in a collegiate setting in front of one of the premier young coaches in the sport, Coach Samantha Honeycutt. Players will have an opportunity to meet with Avila University admissions representatives to learn about Avila and the general college experience, meet the coaching staff and learn about the team philosophy, participate in a skills camp that will showcase their abilities on offense and defense and play in the Futures Game to show off their skills.

Order of events is listed below, Friday, Oct. 20th:

3 pm: Camp Check-In

3:15 pm: Meeting with Chase Slaughter, Avila Athletic Admissions Representative

3:45 pm: Introduction of Coaching Staff and Philosophy

4 pm: Skills Camp/Warm-up

5:30 pm: Showcase Game

The cost of the Future Eagles Showcase is $50 per person, and the sign-up deadline is October 19th.

Halloween Showcase Tournament (Oct. 21th & 22th): Avila University is hosting its annual Avila Softball Fall Showcase on October 21-22 at the 3&2 Stadium at 9600 Blue River Rd. in Kansas City, Mo.

The showcase will be a 2 game guarantee, double elimination tournament featuring a 10-team field, ranging from 18U to 16U. Each team will meet with the Avila Softball coaching staff and players throughout the weekend. Coaches from the JUCO, NAIA, and NCAA level have been invited to be a part of the showcase to recruit. A full list of coaches who will be in attendance will be sent out closer to the tournament date. The Avila Softball Fall Showcase will be a great way to get your players in front of multiple college coaches to add to your fall season.

Brackets for the Halloween Showcase Tournament will be sent out once the field is set. The team fee is $400, and each team is responsible for providing two game balls per game. A trophy will be awarded to the Halloween Showcase Tournament Champion.
